Newborns, especially first borns are maybe my favorite thing to photograph.  It is quite a joy to watch a couple become a family, a guy become a Dad and a woman become a Mom.

Little L is a beauty no doubt, stealing hearts already at only 8-days old.  She's a treasure and the wonder in her parent's eyes reflects that. 

Little L, it is so good to be you and I am so excited to watch you grow!!

I first met the Carvinos a couple of years ago when little B was just a babe.

My how time flies, and my what a beautiful boy he has become...

He is a treasure for sure, so well loved and such a sweet little guy. Bright and creative, full of energy and laughs.

Mom and Dad are laid back and happy, perfect compliments to their lively little man. 

Carvinos, it was so great to see you again!

We kicked the session off with desserts in a field because it seemed like a good way to get everyone to relax and be themselves and what I quickly discovered was- they don't need any help with being themselves. 

Their smiles and affection flowed with ease; my shutter only stopped clicking so that I could hold the camera down and get glimpses not limited by my lens. And speaking of smiles, this boy- stole my heart, goodness what a light he is. 

And goodness words fall short really, what love there is in this image. 

And the girls... I don't know that I have ever run across thirteen and fifteen year old girls with such joy, confidence and grace.

Generally I go for faces, usually I am drawn to closeups and headshots, this afternoon though, called for illustration of relationships.  The bonds here are touching to say the least. 

And where I would generally find myself referring to the parents as "Mom and Dad" I say instead "Alan and Nancy" because well... they are all kinds of in love and it calls for more than generic labelling.

It was absolutely a privilege to spend the afternoon with you Smith family.  Thank you for being yourselves.  

The bond they share is so much more than sweet and I think the images reflect that.  Kelle is, (besides stunningly beautiful), an amazing mom.  And K, well she is, (besides stunningly beautiful), full of life.

We spent the afternoon playing dress-up and decorating cupcakes. And though I'm glad to have captured some creative shots...

...it's the moments like this one that really feed my soul...

We spent Sunday afternoon hanging out in Southlake and it was a total joy to get to be around this much love.  They balance each other so well-  She is a ball of energy, goofy and fun.  And he is steady, cool and collected.  Still firm in the grips of newlywed bliss, they shine.

As a matter of fact, the date we chose for the shoot just so happened to be the one year anniversary of when he asked her to be his girlfriend.  How cute is that??!!

The entire afternoon was magic, the anniversary, the weather, the light.  Everything clicked and all of the talking and laughing we did between shots made me think for the millionth time, what a blessing it is that I get to do this for a living.

And then it got even more magical.  We might have done a little trespassing to get to this field, and I am so, so glad we did. 

These two...  There are more than sparks here, there is a depth to their love, a quiet knowing in their eyes, they so get love.

And the photos show I think, there is something here, something beautiful, and strong, and real.  This is not run-of-the-mill newlywed chemistry.      

This is a connected-at-the soul, forever-and-ever kind of love. 

This is a man who loves well and a woman who knows how to be loved.  And it was a complete honor to get to capture it.  Ethan and Elaine, thanks for an amazing afternoon and some transcendent images.  Enjoy!

This precious four week old was so teeny tiny and so alert.  She needed a little soothing between shots and lucky me I got to bounce and cuddle her for a bit last week.

Her feet were hardly still for the whole shoot. She is ready to go, ready to move and talk, quite a contrast to the super laid back atmosphere in her quiet little home.   

To the Mama and Daddy, thanks for letting me capture the newness of your awesome little family.  Your babygirl is going places.  And to little V, thanks for settling in my arms just in time for me to get this sweet shot.

This group is mostly from Houston, all in for Little C's first birthday and all full of that laughing, happy joy that is just good to be around. 

KK is the one in the middle with the fantastic smile, amazing grandma to these lucky kiddos and an all around lovely lady.

And here's Mr. T, attitude and all.  Love it. 

This is Miss R, she was a joy to photograph, more than happy to sit for a few shots and full of ideas for more.

And two of my favorite little guys- C and C were both a little under the weather, but that didn't stop them from grinning once we got them on the train.

And these three jokesters kept the laughs coming all morning long.
